Whale watching off Cabo is legal from mid-December to the end of April, the official season set each year by Mexico’s environment ministry. October and November bring the warm low 80s back after the summer storms
Late August and September for a beach trip. The eastern Pacific hurricane season runs from mid-May to the end of November and peaks in late August, and July to September is the stormiest, hottest stretch.
The mid-December to April whale season, with Easter week especially lively
December to February is pleasantly cool, not hot — fine for whales, brisk for the beach. May and June climb into the upper 80s.
Many trips pair Los Cabos with La Paz, further up the coast — the base for the whale sharks and for Espíritu Santo island, a national park visited only with authorised operators.
