Zakopane & the Tatras is at its best for city & culture in June and September. Good but not prime in January, February, July and August. Crowds peak in January and bottom out in May.

The cheapest serious mountain town in Europe — and from mid-January to early March some region of Poland is always on school holiday in it
Day walks on marked trails, steep near the top. No guide for individuals, compulsory for school groups; chains high up.
The 1–3 May long weekend, when the entire country takes the same holiday and the town becomes genuinely unwalkable.
The staggered mid-January to early March school break, the early-May long weekend when the whole country is off at once, and July–August
Crowds, and Morskie Oko is two hours each way on a road shared with horse carts. Giewont has exposed chains near the top.
Krupówki, the main street, is priced for tourists. Guesthouses in Kościelisko or along the road toward Morskie Oko cost far less and put you closer to the trailheads anyway.
The Tatras are small but genuinely alpine, and the trail network is dense enough to fill a long weekend without repeating yourself. Trails close from dusk to dawn, 1 April to 30 November.
0 is this destination’s own quietest month and 100 its busiest. The scale never compares one destination to another. Source: Wikipedia — Zakopane
