Basing yourself in Interlaken for a ski trip. It is the name everyone knows and one of two valley-floor bases with no slopes of its own.
June through August — Grindelwald takes about 60% of its nights in summer against 40% in winter. Christmas–New Year and the February half-terms are the winter peaks
Minimal; the railways do the climbing and some valley walks take a pushchair. Jungfraujoch is 3,454m, so pace the altitude.
Grindelwald is the most convenient for skiing and the most crowded. Wengen and Mürren are car-free, bar service vehicles, and quieter out of season. Lauterbrunnen has the cheapest apartments and the worst ski access. Interlaken is a lake town — lovely, but you commute.
One of the densest trail networks in the Alps, and the mountain railways mean almost any walk here can be downhill only.
