A year-round walking island: at Santa Cruz the January average is 18 °C, and the whole year brings only about 226 mm of rain, most of it in winter
Day walks from the laurel forest of Anaga to the lava fields of Teide National Park. Paths can be very slippery after rain.
Planning to walk to the summit of Teide without a permit. The summit path is strictly regulated, a cable-car ticket does not include it, and permits are booked online in advance, with a fee for visitors.
