Santorini is at its best for swimming in July to September. Good but not prime in June and October. Crowds peak in July and bottom out in November.

Swipe the table sideways for the rest of the year.
Much of the island closes from November to March — most caldera hotels, and the beach resorts at Perissa and Kamari almost entirely. Fira keeps year-round tavernas and services, and the caldera path to Oia is not gated or seasonally closed, only exposed and unmaintained. Late September is the window — the sea is warm enough, the light good and the cruise crowds thinned; May has the light but a cool sea
Cliff-path walks, exposed and hot. No guide needed on the signposted paths.
The whole summer season if the caldera villages are the point. Fira and Oia are shoulder to shoulder by mid-morning, and the heat makes the Fira-to-Oia walk unpleasant.
July and August, plus every day a cruise ship is in — which is most days from April to October
Steps everywhere, and Oia and Fira are built on a cliff — pushchairs are close to unusable. The beaches are black volcanic sand that gets genuinely too hot to walk on barefoot.
Caldera-view rooms in Oia and Fira carry an enormous premium. Imerovigli has the same view for less, Pyrgos has the island’s best food and no view at all, and Kamari is where you stay if you actually want a beach.
The caldera path has no shade and little water. Walk it early or late; in August the middle of the day is genuinely unwise.
0 is this destination’s own quietest month and 100 its busiest. The scale never compares one destination to another. Source: Wikipedia — Santorini
