Corfu & the Ionian Islands is at its best for lakes & coastline in May to June and September to October. Good but not prime in April, July and August. Crowds peak in July and bottom out in December.

Green rather than bare — the Ionians get real winter rain, which is why Corfu is wooded and the light is softer than the Aegean. It also means the meltemi does not reach here, so the sea is usually calm

Kavos and the northern package strips in high summer, and assuming Shipwreck Beach on Zakynthos is a swim — beach access and swimming across the cove are banned, so it is a view from the water.
July and August, heavily British and German
Calm, sheltered water and short transfers make this one of the easiest Mediterranean choices. Corfu Town is cobbled and steep in places.
Corfu’s north-east coast is the expensive one. The south and the interior villages cost far less, and Kefalonia and Lefkada are quieter islands altogether for the same money.
Corfu is green because it rains, so the walking season is spring and autumn and the paths can be muddy into April. The interior is much emptier than the coast in any month.
