Costa de la Luz & Cádiz is at its best for city & culture in April to May and October. Good but not prime in March, June, September and November.

Andalusia’s Atlantic coast — enormous empty sand beaches instead of the Mediterranean’s coves, and the levante wind that makes Tarifa a kitesurfing centre and the beaches unbearable on the same day
Booking Tarifa for lying on a beach. When the levante blows the sand moves horizontally and only the kitesurfers are happy.
August, overwhelmingly Spanish, plus Cádiz carnival in February
Wide, shallow, gently shelving beaches with real waves. Easier than the Mediterranean for space, harder for calm water.
Tarifa is priced for the wind sports. Vejer de la Frontera sits on a hill a quarter of an hour inland with some of the best food on this coast, and Conil and Zahara de los Atunes put you on the sand for less.
