Ushuaia & Tierra del Fuego is at its best for hiking in December to March. Good but not prime in April and November. Crowds peak in December and bottom out in May.

Planning around penguins in winter or skiing in summer. The two seasons do not overlap: the penguin trips run October to April, the ski season from about late June to late September or early October, depending on snow.

Winter days have only seven or eight hours of light; summer has close to eighteen.
The city is the base for all of it — the penguin colony, the national park and Cerro Castor are day trips.

Most places have one or two months that are genuinely better — and a booking moment that comes a lot earlier than the trip. I’ll write when one of those is coming up. No schedule, no filler.
